Latham Island

Welcome to Latham Island fishing charters, your gateway to one of the most untouched and remote marine frontiers in East Africa. Located deep in the Indian Ocean, far south of Zanzibar, this isolated atoll offers world-record potential for deep sea fishing — a bucket-list destination for serious anglers chasing legendary catches.

Big Game Deep Sea Fishing

Latham Island fishing charters are not for the casual fisherman. These remote waters are ideal for hardcore sport fishing, offering the chance to land true trophies like dogtooth tuna, yellowfin tuna, giant trevally (GT), wahoo, sailfish, and marlin (in season). With some of the deepest drop-offs in East Africa and powerful currents teeming with pelagic life, Latham challenges even the most seasoned anglers. The best seasons for these trips are from mid-September to mid-December and late March to May, but they’re only possible during calm sea conditions.

Live Aboard Fishing

Latham Island is a prized destination for East African anglers—especially for the legendary Giant Dogtooth Tuna, with world-record catches made in recent years. It’s a dream spot for sportfishing enthusiasts worldwide. The surrounding waters also offer excellent Swordfishing. Known as the “Gladiator of the Sea,” Swordfish deliver an unforgettable challenge, whether trolling with rigged baits or drifting under the stars.

Conservation-First Fishing Ethos

While Latham Island fishing charters focus on elite sport fishing, we are equally committed to sustainability. Our practices support catch-and-release for record-size species, use low-impact, fuel-efficient vessels, avoid nesting bird zones, and advocate for formal marine protection of Latham Island. We believe this extraordinary marine habitat must be preserved for future generations and take pride in treating it with the respect it deserves. This isn’t your average fishing trip—it’s remote, wild, and where records are made. Charters are available only during specific calm weather windows, with a minimum of 3 nights on private liveaboards.

Liveaboard Charters

Latham Island fishing charters are only accessible by multi-day liveaboard—an adventure in itself. Our custom sport fishing liveaboards are built for performance, comfort, and safety, featuring pro-rigged yachts, expert local crews, cold storage, satellite navigation, and all necessary gear. Trips include private cabins, full meals, drinks, and trolling setups with support tenders. Departures are from southern Zanzibar or Dar es Salaam, with durations ranging from 3 to 5 nights (longer on request).
